Glass Tile Consultants Receives Inomat M-8 Pump

Exciting news for Glass Tile Consultants! we have just received an Inomat M-8 Peristaltic Pump to test the application of membrane materials, primarily used for pool tile installations as well as many other uses, and will be utilizing this machine to apply the various membranes currently on the market recommended for waterproofing pool tanks prior to installing pool tile both above and below the water lines.

There is great concern regarding these membranes as some of them, while seemingly meeting the shear bond strengths required by ANSI, scrape off unusually easy. We are not aware of a scraping requirement for membranes nor a test available for testing the resistance to scraping so look forward to our upcoming blogs regarding this and other features of membranes in pool tile applications.

GTC

Coverings 2011

Wow! a big thanks to Blake at Niteo Design for getting our site up to speed and listed on the first page of Googles "Glass Tile Installation" search. Great Job Blake!

We just got back from Coverings 2011 in Las Vegas where we met last Sunday for the ANSI ASC 108 committee. For those of you who don't know about this committee this is the tile industries section of the American National Standards Institute.

The committee is comprised of various tile industry professionals, such as, manufacturers, contractors, consultants, and others who have an interest in helping the tile industry grow and prosper by developing standards for manufacturing tile and the products used to install it.

This year we reviewed the proposal for manufacturing glass tile which was initiated by Glass Tile Consultants owner Scott Fleming, and while this document has changed considerably since Scott initiated this project he was able to shed additional light for the group on how the glass tile manufacturers might want to add additional thermal shock testing options in this standard by listing the ASTM and ISO testing methods for determining thermal shock resistance of tile.

Look for more on this subject as we move further into 2011, GTC
